Benvenuti

A piece of Calabria in the heart of Frankfurt

Exquisite wines, first-class homemade specialities and plenty of “cuore” in the way we look after our guests – that is Vini… da Sabatini, your Italian restaurant in Frankfurt am Main. We cook whatever the market brings at its best today and recommend it to you personally at the table.

Franco's goal has always been the same: to make you feel as if you were on holiday – whether over a quick lunch near the trade fair or a long evening of several courses.

La cucina

Pasta, fish and steak – it says so above our door.

Our kitchen follows the market and the seasons. The daily menu changes, the signature stays the same: southern Italian warmth, precise craftsmanship and ingredients we choose afresh every day.

Homemade pappardelle with ragù next to a glass of white wine
Spaghetti with bottarga
Black ravioli with leek rings and thyme

Pasta, just like in Mandatoriccio

Made in-house, with patience: pappardelle with ragù, spaghetti with bottarga, black ravioli – dishes that taste of Sundays and childhood.

Raw seafood on ice: prawns, oysters, tuna, salmon and passion fruit
Scallops with black truffle, spinach and balsamic
Oysters on ice with lemon and shallot vinaigrette

From the sea to your plate

Oysters, red prawns, langoustines and tuna – raw as crudo di mare or finished with a few precise touches. Freshness is no slogan here; it is the first ingredient.

T-bone steak on the plate with a bottle of Tignanello behind
Veal chop with rosemary
Pink-roasted beef with berries and mint

Meat with a heritage

Franco Grande grew up in a family of butchers – and you can taste it. From the T-bone steak and the veal chop to the veal shank that even won over television.

The daily menu changes every day. Let us advise you at the table – or take a look at our classics in advance.

La storia

From Mandatoriccio to Frankfurt – and back again

Coat of arms of the municipality of Mandatoriccio
  1. Mandatoriccio

The village of a thousand chefs

Our story begins in Calabria, in a town of barely 2,400 people that became known far beyond Italy as “the village of a thousand chefs”. From here, generations of young people set out for the kitchens of New York, Paris and Germany.

  2. 1990

    Setting off

As a young man, Franco Grande leaves his home village and comes to Germany. In his luggage: courage, drive and the flavours of his childhood. He comes from a family of butchers – he has known his way around meat since he was a boy.

  3. The apprentice years

    Craft and character

At renowned Frankfurt establishments such as the Charlot and the Neuer Hafenkasten he hones his craft: uncompromising precision, perseverance – and the art of making every guest feel welcome.

  4. 2002

    “Vini” becomes “Vini… da Sabatini”

On Grüneburgweg, Franco takes over a restaurant called “Vini” and adds “da Sabatini” – his grandfather's nickname. Two words that mean a whole world to the family.

  5. Today

A family legacy in its second generation

Franco's children Erica and Simon stand firmly by his side, and many of our team have been with us for years. Guests have become regulars, acquaintances have become friends.

  6. Calabria

La Corte dei Sabatini is born

In Calabria, La Corte dei Sabatini was born – the family's farm and resort on the Ionian coast, near Mandatoriccio.

  7. Frankfurt & Calabria

    Coming full circle

With Centro Sabatini on the Fressgass and Pizzeria Sabatini, the family has grown in Frankfurt too – and many of our regulars now visit us in Calabria. Frankfurt and Calabria: two chapters of the same story.
